What is Digital Inking?
Digital inking allows tablet users to 'write' directly on whatever application is open. Stylus pens make inking easier than ever before. Inking is also possible using a mouse or finger in some applications.

Inking in Word Directions

Lenovo Pen

1. Open a Word Document
(Make sure editing is enabled if opening an
existing word document)

2. Use the stylus pen and tap anywhere on
the document to activate the Pen tool in the ribbon.

3. Select the type of inking tool (pen or highlighter)
and desired color, thickness, and begin 'writing.'

4. Add Math content using Ink to Math tool.

Generic Stylus and Finger

1. Open a Word Document
(Make sure editing is enabled if opening an
existing word document)

2. Activate Touch Keyboard. Located in the Task Bar.

3. Select the Input method in lower right then select the Pen option.

4. The Touch Keyboard can be docked making it stationing at the bottom
of the screen. Or, undocked making it movable on the screen.

5. Using your finger or a generic stylus, write directly on the keyboard.
Writing will be interpreted with suggestions. Words will appear directly on the
Word Document as typed text.

Inking in Power Point Directions
1. Open new or existing Power Point.
(Be sure editing is enabled if opening
an existing presentation)

2. Tap on a slide in the presentation in edit mode
with the stylus pen.

3. Select the inking tool (Pen, Highlighter, Convert to Shapes)
and begin 'writing' on the slide.

Inking in Power Point while Presenting


1. Open existing Power Point Presentation and present.

2. Tap in the lower left corner to reveal the pen options.
Select the type of pen tool desired.

3. 'Write' on the slide using either pen, mouse, or finger.



Inking in PowerPoint while Recording

1. Open a saved or existing presentation. (Be sure editing is enabled if opening
an existing presentation)

2. Click on Mix. Select Slide Recording.

3. Click Record. Ink directly on the slide with Lenovo stylus, generic
stylus or finger. Advanced to the next slide by clicking the blue arrow in
the upper toolbar.

In addition to inking, sound can be recorded for each slide.

4. Stop recording. Select "Yes" to save the inking and recording. It will not replace the original presentation. A presentation will be saved with original title and 11 to differentiate between the two.

Inking with Web Paint in Chrome
Write on your Chrome browser with Web Paint.
1. Sign into your Chrome browser with your CMCSS Google Account.

2. Click here to Add to Chrome.

3. If prompted, Allow Web Paint.

4. Congratulations! Web Paint has been added as an extension to your Chrome browser.

5. Click the Web Paint extension to launch the controls. Use the Camera to take a screenshot of your work or Exit to leave Web Paint.

Inking in Edge Browser

1. Use the Edge browser and navigate to a web site.

3. Use the Reading View tool to remove unwanted advertisements.

Windows Ink Workspace

To check for this feature, type "Windows Ink Workspace" in the Cortana search box. Many machines already have it installed however, at this time, for machines that do not have it a work order would need to be issued.

1. In the task bar, click the Workspace icon.

2. Sticky Note allows for notes to be posted to the desktop screen using digital ink or typing text.

3. Sketchpad is an electronic whiteboard allowing for digital inking. It allows the user to change ink color, use a ruler, copy and paste into a document, and save work.

4. Screen sketch takes a picture of what is currently on the desktop. Tools allow the user to digitally ink, crop, and save.
